Y'all Ready For This Reading Group?

Don't Forget to Register!

Keeping today’s newsletter short and sweet.

As y’all know, NAZAR will begin holding an Afrofuturist reading group on the Friday following each newsletter’s publishing from 12-1:30pm EST. We’ll begin this Friday, March 19!

These meetings are open to anyone subscribed to NAZAR.

For the first, I’m asking people to register ahead of time so I have a vague idea of how many people are interested. You’ll be sent the Zoom details thirty minutes before the meeting starts. It’s a recurring room so you can save that information but I will include it at the bottom of each newsletter, too.

We will begin by reading W.E.B. Du Bois’ “The Comet” and C. Brandon Ogbunu’s “How Afrofuturism Can Help the World MendNamely, the section on the COVID-19 Comet.

I’m dedicating all of the time to discussion so if you don’t read beforehand, that’s on you. My plan is to keep the room fairly relaxed. I’ll do some facilitating and prepare questions ahead of time in case discussion stalls but this isn’t a lecture. I’m leaving plenty of space for other people to talk.

AND REAL QUICK: If you got any suggestions for what we should read next, let me know in a comment, DM, etc. As long as I can find it online for free, I’ll jot it down.

Looking forward to meeting with y’all!

Best,

Vanessa
